Although you can visit the Paso Robles wineries any time of the year, there are a number of benefits to attending a scheduled wine event, especially one that is large in size.

The Paso Robles Wine Festival

In the third weekend of May, you will find the Paso Robles Wine Festival. If there was ever a time to visit the area, this is it. According to the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, over 100 wineries participate in this weekend event.

It is not uncommon to find special deals and discounts, including complimentary wine tasting and discounted prices on wine purchases. Many other unique events are scheduled for the festival. It is common to find seminars on pairing fine wine with gourmet foods, those that highlight the history of wine making in Paso Robles, and much. Many wineries offer guided tours of their facilities. Any other time of the year, these wine tours would only be available by appointment.

Harvest Wine Weekend

The third weekend of October, the wineries in Paso Robles come alive. Why? Because it is harvest time. This is when the production of the fine wines you love begins. Regardless of when you visit a local winery that is open to the public, you can enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting. However, come Harvest Wine Weekend, there is so much for you to do and see. In fact, there are many special events planned that are saved for this weekend only.

According to the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, around 90 activities are scheduled at more than 100 wineries. Each winery will host is own special events, but you will be pleased with what you find. You can enjoy a grape stopping session, take a tour through the ripe vineyards, take a cooking class where wine is the main ingredient, and do so much more.

If you have the freedom to choose your travel dates, opt for the third weekend in October and come experience Harvest Wine Weekend for yourself.

Grand Tasting Tour

The best way to experience the wineries of Paso Robles is to visit the area. However, if you are unable to do so, you may still get to sample their fine wines. Each year, some local wineries take their show and their wine on the road. In 2008, the Grand Tasting Tour visited the cities of Houston, San Diego, St. Louis, and Kansas City. The above mentioned events, including the Zinfandel Festival, are just a few of the many that you will find available throughout the year. Would you like to visit Paso Robles, California? If so and if this is your first time visiting the area, you may be wondering what preparation steps you should take. To get started with planning your next trip, please continue reading on.

First, it is important to decide when you want to travel to the area. Since Paso Robles is located in California, you will find beautiful weather all year round. However, that weather could have an impact on what activities you get to participate in. Those traveling to the area are urged to visiting at least one Paso Robles winery, although there are many more for you to choose from. Wineries are open all year round, but they have extended hours in the summertime. Lake Nacimiento, which is home to bass fishing, boating, and much more, has more inviting temperatures in the summer.

Once you have decided on a date of travel, you will want to start making your travel arrangements. The arrangements you need to make will depend on your length of travel. If you live in the State of California, you may be able to simply just hop in your car and go. If you live across the country, you will need to make airline reservations. When flying into the area, you are encouraged to rent a vehicle. There is so much to do and see in Paso Robles and a car rental can help you freely get around.

Another travel arrangement you will have to make is your staying options. Your choice should depend on affordability and your personal preferences. For convenience and a traditional vacation stay, the area is home to three nationally operated hotel chains, including Budget Inn, Courtyard by Marriot, and Hampton Inns.

As previously stated, you will want to consider renting a car. That car can take you to Lake Nacimiento, where you can enjoy a fun filled day by the lake. You can also visit one of the four area golf courses. Taking a horseback riding tour along the river or lake is also recommended. These are just a few of the many activities you can participate in while visiting Paso Robles. In fact, that you should research your available options ahead of time.

When researching Paso Robles, California, you will find it is often referred to as wine country. That may even be the reason why you selected Paso Robles as your next trip destination. If visiting a local winery is on your to-do list, there are some preparation steps you will want to take. For example, do you know which winery or wineries you want to visit? Yes, you can wait until the last minute to make your decision, but why not research which wineries come highly rated and recommended?
